land stewardship

We take land management seriously.  In fact, its the core of our business.

Rotational Grazing...  Our herds are moved from pasture to pasture on a constant basis.  Working with the University of Arizona, we developed a grazing plan that rotates cattle very quickly during the growing season (every 10 days) allowing the perennial grasses to experience a full growth cycle every year.

Water Development....  Natural sources of water are rare in this area. We have added an additional 100,000 linear feat of new water line with new troughs in 2007 in order to distribute cattle evenly across pastures.  This reduces patch grazing and reduces grazing pressure near sensitive areas. Wildlife populations depend on our water development. For the majority of the ranch acreage, we supply the only year round water supply for wildlife.

Stocking rate.....  Our ranching philosophy is simple.  Stock your cattle at a level that the land can support sustainably.  That reduces the likelihood that drought will force us to reduce our cattle numbers.

Sustainable Land Management.
